Welcome to Early Years at Bluebell Meadow Primary School.
Our Early Years (EYFS) work across two building. Our nursery building is where our 2 year old and Nursery aged children are taught. In the main school building, there is a spectacular EYFS area and this is where our Reception class is taught.
Children in EYFS should mostly develop the three prime areas first, they are:
*Communication and language;
*Physical development; and
*Personal, social and emotional development.
These prime areas are essential for children’s healthy development and future learning. The three prime areas are essential building blocks before progressing onto the specific areas.
As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in four specific areas. These are:
*Understanding the world; and
*Expressive arts and design.
These seven areas are used to plan our activities . We ensure that the activities taking place in the EYFS unit are suited to each child’s unique needs, it is designed to be really flexible so that the EYFS staff members can follow the children’s needs and interests.
Children in our EYFS typically learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside. Here at Bluebell Meadow, we strongly believe that outdoor learning is key to a child’s development. The children have lots of quality outdoor experiences each day.
Evidence of your child’s progress will be collected on the online ‘Early Excellence EExAT’ App. Parents are able to view their child’s learning journey and also provide home- learning observations. We really do value your home input and encourage you to upload them into your child’s learning journal.
